Trekkies Bash New Star Trek Film As 'Fun, Watchable'

Quotable quotes: "Gene Roddenberry was the hack who created the Star Trek television show, way back in the 40's or something."

  1. Dad B. and I went to see the new film today and were disappointed to find that it was really a lot of fun and that we were tempted to enjoy it immensely. It was heartening to see that they had the traditional "Star Trek" brain-eating slug, and a couple of ferocious alien beasts chasing Jim Kirk on an ice planet to maintain continuity with the original series.

  2. Luckily, Han found Luke in time and was able to keep Luke warm by cutting open the Taun-Taun.

Once Luke had recovered they were able to return to the small rebel base on the ice planet where they were able to join back up with the fleet making a safe jump to hyper-space.

After debating whether to join up with the rebel fleet, they decided to go it alone and take on the evil larger-than-life space ship that's sole goal is to wander about and destroy worlds and stars... (but let's not call it a "death star".)

But little do you know the death star is fully operational and is nearly in position to destroy the peaceful planet.

Oh no! We have to sneak aboard the thath-which-shall-not-be-called-a-death-star and kill Emperor Palpatine.... I mean Nero.

Oh let's have a fight on an oddly thin walkway with really poor light. fight... fight...fight...

Oh no, the emperor falls to his death/gets the bejebus blown out of him when the small+fast rebel ship blows up the deathstar.

Yippee the totally out gunned rebels win.

I guess we now know what you get when you mix Star Trek with the first three starwars movies.

I was mildly entertained, until the parallelism became too painful to handle.
