Baby pictures!
Seems I have less blogging time now, for some strange reason. Anyways, I'll hold you over with pictures to give me time to compose The Post.

My wife is cerifiably insane.
Firstly, she insists that I set the alarm clock to 3:30am, to wake us up to feed the baby, instead of using, oh I don't know, the screaming baby to wake us up.
Secondly, she wakes up 15 minutes before the alarm is about to go off, and is worried that the baby isn't screaming. She wakes up the baby so she can feed him.

First things first.
Final Scores:
(Some of you may already have calculated these.)
Before we being, let me just say that the exact birth weight is unknown. At birth, they weighed him as 7 lbs. 7.2 oz. Later that night, the nurse weighed him at 7 lbs. 12 oz. Since newborn babies are supposed to lose weight in the first few days, it's clear there was some discrepency. After verifying that Damien was all right and he didn't have any weird psycho problems that would cause him to gain 5 ounces in a few hours, it was agreed that there was a discrepency in the scales. Early Sunday morning, a nurse weighed him again, after zeroing the scale, and he came out to 7 lbs. 7.8 oz (again, he should have been a few ounces lighter than birth weight at this point). So his actual birthweight was probably closer to 8 lbs. than to 7, but since the measured birth weight is what goes on the birth certificate, that's what we're going by here. Good enough for government work.
So, the stats:
Damien Alexander, born July 25th at 3:35pm.
7 lbs. 7 oz., 20 inches long.
Jenny: 50 pts.
Cari & Jeff: tied at 48 pts.
Devin: 38 pts.
Dave: 34 pts.
Tom: 27 pts.
Tine: 17 pts.
Katie: 1 pt.
Cleary Katie is psychic and is therefore disqualified. ;)
Your imaginary bag of marshmallows (or whatever Weight Watchers-approved treat of equal or lesser value you want) will be in the imaginary mail imaginarily shortly.
(Further bulletins as sanity warrants.)

Haha, isn't that a great Calvin & Hobbes strip?
Speaking of water, The Murloc's just broke. I have to take her to the hospital.

*shudder*
Ok, so if someone is talking about multiple people, and accidentally uses a plural pronoun where a singular one should be used, such as in the sentence "everyone went to the store and bought themselves a ham," I can forgive him. I would politely correct the usage, so long as it is approriate to do so, but the offense can be forgiven.
(If, however, the misusage is intentional, because he believes that the English language is sexist, and is trying to affect a grammatical revolution, then he can be cast in the Pit of Despair for all I care. We won't go into that, as my thoughts on this topic have been made abundantly clear.)
But, verily, when you use a plural pronoun when you are talking about one singular person, there is no word in elvish, entish, or the tongues of men for your stupidity.
To wit:
"This is Shirley Lin, who seems like they [sic] might be a girlfriend of Zedadias’"
There is only one rational reaction to this grammatical mangling: scream like Wilhelm.
(Irony of ironies, the first sentence of this post originally ended "I can forgive them". You guys never would have let me live that one down if that made it to press.)

Gravity Update
Version 1.3 is available! A co-worker told me, "I won't play your little game until I can blow stuff up." Well, now you can blow stuff up (sort of):

This release shall from now on be referred to as the CPU-Eater Edition. To see why, try this:
1. Run the sim
2. Press X to turn on fracture mode
3. Press S to open the Seed number dialog
4. Enter 31500 and click OK
5. Cackle with pitiless glee as whole worlds are rent asunder as they enter the cosmic maelstrom.
I hope you have a multi-core CPU if you want to do other things while this program is running. Other things to try:
- Press 0 (zero) to turn on auto time acceleration
- Press SHIFT+= to set auto acceleration to maximum
- Press I or G or to turn on pretty colors
When auto acceleration is on, the program will adjust the speed and/or graphical detail to try to maintain between 10 and 20 fps. Notice that orbits (and co-orbits) are now displayed with time acceleration on, so you can see how they evolve and affect each other over time.

Apparently, someone saw fit to have their rental car information sent to me. Do with this what you will.

Happy 6th of July!
Boy, it sure is a good thing handguns are illegal in Chicago: http://cbs2chicago.com/local/chicago.area.shooting.2.1072542.html. Heaven forbid I have one.

The Pool.
Place ya bets!
Birthday: _______
Weight: _______
Length: _______
Ok, here's the deal: you get 5 points for each day your birthday guess is off by. You get 1 point for each ounce your weight guess is off by. 2 points for each quarter-inch your length guess is off by. Lowest score wins an imaginary bag of marshmallows.
Also, the eye color is potentially up in the air so you can make guesses as to that, but we might not know for certain what that will be at birth, so I'm not including it in the official betting.
