Firstly, she insists that I set the alarm clock to 3:30am, to wake us up to feed the baby, instead of using, oh I don't know, the screaming baby to wake us up.
Secondly, she wakes up 15 minutes before the alarm is about to go off, and is worried that the baby isn't screaming. She wakes up the baby so she can feed him.
Meh, she's a new mom. She'll get over that "waking up the baby" thing pretty darn quick.

Husbands aren't very helpful for midnight feedings. May as well let us sleep too. We don't have the equipment to feed. (no matter what modern scientist may attempt through body modifications)
Yeah, but it makes her feel better if you simply stand up in the middle of the night and look like you are participating. Like stand next to her side of the bed and hold a towel or something from 2am to 3am. She'll say something like she wishes you'd share some of the burden or work or whatever, but secretly inside of her mind she just wants you to suffer needlessly because "you did this to her".
ReplyDeleteIt's only fair that the husband suffer along with her. He helped make the baby, he can help "feed" the baby. Even if it just means doing nothing. His presence will make her feel like he's participating in the moment.
ReplyDeleteThat baby sleeps a lot. He'll sleep for 4 hours straight if you let him. He needs to eat. Why wait until he's starving and cranky? Might as well catch him before it gets ugly.
Plus, they'll be able to get him on a reasonable schedule rather than letting him decide what their schedule should be like.
ReplyDeleteI think the most shocking thing is that Rie is waking up 15 minutes before her alarm goes off. That's unheard of. She usually gets up like 30 minutes after the alarm goes off. lol!
ReplyDeleteMr. Pickles would get up and change the baby, then give him back to me so I could feed him. Great system for us -- he was able to change a diaper in semi-darkness while still half asleep and then go right back to sleep, and I didn't have to get out of the nice warm bed at all. You'll find something that works for you too.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, let sleeping babies lie!
