Fire Fighters Rescue Child From Burning Building
Called "Despicable Act" by Atty. George Felos

TAMPA, FL - Local Firefighters entered a burning building to rescue a 5-year-old boy that had been trapped when a section of the roof collapsed, Friday morning. Fire Chief Jim Bravura told reporters that the boy was in stable condition at the hospital, where he was being treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.

The fire started around 3am, due to causes under investigation. A smoke alarm alerted the boys parents, who evacuated the house immediately. They used a neighboor's phone to call 911 to report the fire. Shortly thereafter, the mother realized her son was still inside the house. The parents were unable to re-enter the house, as the front door had been blocked by burning debris.

The Tampa Bay fire department arrived on the scene, and learning from the parents that the boy was still inside, four members of the department entered the house to rescue the boy. They emerged a few minutes later with the boy, who was unconscious and unable to breathe. Fortunately, a fire department EMT was able to succesfully perform CPR and revive the boy.

George Felos, attorney for Michael Schiavo, called the fire department's actions "despicable". "To think that your child or loved-one could be at home in bed, and a fireman can break down a door, forcing his way in, and drag your loved one out against their will is absolutely shocking and the lowest, just the lowest type of strong-arming," Felos was quoted as saying.

Felos continued, "The boy had made it clear that he did not wish to live without his favorite toy, which had been destroyed in the fire. It is disgusting that these firemen broke their way into a family's home, which is their private space and should not be intruded on by any government entity, and dragged the boy out, against his obvious wishes."

"What is most heinous," continued Felos, "is that not one of those firefighters would ever, ever submit their own family members to the indignity and illegalities shown on this poor boy, yet for their own gain as 'community heros' they can do it to him."
